NorthBay Island Andaman & Nicobar
Overview
To the north of Port Blair and only a 45-minute ride from Aberdeen Jetty, North Bay Island is a convenient option for the hurried tourist.
The beach is home to the lighthouse which features on the reverse of the Rs. 20 note. The lighthouse rewards anyone who braves the tough climb up with a spectacular view of the nearby islands of Ross Island and Port Blair skyline in the expanse of brilliantly sparkling waters.
North Bay Beach also offers a variety of water sports and adventure activities which include glass boat rides, Sea Walking, Scuba Diving, and Snorkeling. The shallow water here makes for some quality coral viewing. Several companies offer dives at North Bay (duration of around 40 minutes each), with complimentary underwater photographs loaded to your mobile phone.
A visit to North Bay Island can consume about half of your day. It is advisable to carry something to munch on, though snacks (a few run-of-the-mill Chinese dishes, and pakodas) and beverages (tea and coffee) are available on the beach.
