North Bay located near Port Blair is a popular spot for underwater activities. The lighthouse located on the bay is quite popular. It is printed on the backside of old ₹20 notes.
Note: All water sports activities at North Bay will remain open from February 12, 2024 and operate from the Aberdeen Jetty.
Where is North Bay Located?
North Bay is located close to Port Blair in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Contrary to popular belief, North Bay is not a separate island. It is a bay located on the southeast coast of South Andaman.
How to Reach North Bay?
You can reach by either taking a boat from the Aberdeen Jetty or by road.
By boat:
You can take a boat from Aberdeen Jetty, located in the Rajiv Gandhi water sports complex. It will take around 30 minutes for you to reach North Bay. The tickets will cost you ₹670 per person for a round trip and you will be staying for 3 hours. You can also book tickets to visit both North Bay and Ross Island together at ₹870 per person.
By road:
In 2022, an ‘all-weather road’ connecting North Bay with Bombooflat was inaugurated. This road named Chuna Bhatta road gives easy access. You will have to reach Bombooflat by taking a vehicle ferry from Chatham Jetty.
After reaching Bombooflat, head towards Mount Manipur (Mount Harriet). After crossing Panighat Ferry Jetty you will find the newly constructed road.
North Bay entry fee:
There is no entry fee. You will just have to bear the transportation costs.

Water activities are open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The beach has dedicated changing rooms. These are well-maintained and can be accessed between 08:00 a.m. and 05:00 p.m.
Lifeguards:
The beach has trained lifeguards to avoid any accidents. The water ride operators follow mandated safety precautions.
Is North Bay worth visiting?
It is one of the most frequented tourist spots on the Andaman Islands. If you’re looking for water activities around Port Blair, then this is the place you want to be. Apart from the Coral Safari, all the other activities are also available at Elephant Beach.
So if you have missed out on any activity in Havelock, or if you do not plan to go to Havelock, then you must definitely visit North Bay.
