1. Booking Your Flight:

  • Choose flights to Port Blair, Andaman’s capital city. Flights from major cities on the mainland of India fly daily to Port Blair. You can get direct flights from Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Bangalore year-round.
  • Book tickets in advance for better deals and availability. You can even ask a travel agent for cheap flight tickets as they have better deals booked in advance.
  • Airlines like IndiGo and Air India operate regular flights to Port Blair.

  • The optimal scuba diving season is from October to May for calm seas and excellent visibility. During monsoon, from June to September, the sea gets rough sometimes.
  • But none the less you can visit year-round for scuba diving in Andaman as rain does not hinder a good dive. Just watch out for any storms during the monsoon season.

4. Choosing the Right Dive Location:

  • You can majorly dive at 3 locations in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Port Blair, Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep), and Neil Island (Shaheed Sweep).
  • Diving at Port Blair is the most economical option as you need not travel to other islands after you land in Port Blair. You will save on ferries and hotels. If you are planning on going to other islands like the Havelock island it can get expensive especially during the holiday season.
  • If budget is not a to you concern then you can choose to take a ferry to Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep) or Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep).
  • Choosing between Havelock and Neil Island is a personal preference. If you want to avoid the crowd, then go with Neil Island. If that is not the case, then you can go to Havelock Island. But again, both of these places are fairly crowded during the holidays.

Scuba Diving Spots in Andaman:

Port Blair:

The capital city, Port Blair, offers distinctive dive sites. Corruption Rock, lying between Chidiya Tapu and Rutland Island, features huge underwater rocks and strong currents, making it suitable for deep dives and experienced divers. Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, Wandoor, is an economical choice with over 50 types of corals and diverse aquatic species. North Bay is another dive spot near Port Blair, with other water activities as well.

Havelock Island (Swaraj Dweep):

Havelock, officially known as Swaraj Dweep, is a hub for scuba diving with several captivating dive sites. The Aquarium, ideal for beginners, features fringing reefs showcasing colorful marine life. Lighthouse is renowned for its splendid marine creatures and is excellent for night diving. White House Rock offers variable conditions with an abundance of soft and hard corals. Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep):
