Chidiya Tapu Beach and Munda Pahad Beach are two separate but adjacent beaches. The more scenic of the two is Munda Pahad Beach and you should visit Munda Pahad Beach.
You will come across Chidiya Tapu Beach on the way to Munda Pahad Beach. It is a small stretch of sand with pebbles. Chidiya Tapu Beach is a sunset point. You can see some colorful sunsets here along with some refreshments from the local eateries along the road.
Munda Pahad Beach is usually clubbed with Chidiya Tapu Beach. Locals usually are referring to Munda Pahad Beach when they talk about Chidiya Tapu Beach.
How to Reach Chidiya Tapu Beach?
You can reach by road if you are in Port Blair.
- You can board a bus from Port Blair.
- There are private and public buses plying from Aberdeen Bazaar bus station. But buses to Chidiya Tapu Beach are not so frequent (1 every hour).
- Alternatively, you can board a Go-Go bus. These buses are dedicated tourist buses plying to various tourist spots in Andaman. You can see their schedule and choose them if it suits you.
- Another option is to rent a two-wheeler. Renting a two-wheeler will be economical and give you the flexibility of choosing when to travel.
- And if you have booked a tour package, your travel agent will provide you with a cab.

Munda Pahad Beach
Now you know the difference between Chidiya Tapu Beach and Munda Pahad Beach. Munda Pahad Beach comes under a reserved forest and is open from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm for public visits.
There is ample parking space and seating areas. There is also a small park for kids to play. It is a popular picnic spot in South Andaman. There are multiple huts for you to relax. Also, you can swim on this beach, but the sand is not as fine as other beaches like Wandoor and Radhanagar Beach.
Munda Pahad Beach Trek
If you are at Munda Pahad Beach, you must go to Munda Pahad View Point. It is a short and safe trek of about 2 kilometers through the forest. You will find directions engraved on wooden milestones while you trek. There is also a lighthouse on the way to the viewpoint, but entry is restricted.

Biological Park, Chidiyatapu
If you’re at Chidiya Tapu for watching birds then this is the place for you. Preserving nature’s beauty, this park hosts many species of birds and reptiles, including those endemic to the Andaman Islands. There are monkeys, boars, spotted deer, huge trees, and many species of plants in this park.
There are electric vehicles in this park for visitors. This park is open from 10.30 am to 04.00 pm, has an entry fee of ₹20, and is closed on Mondays.
Chota Balu Beach
This beach is located amidst a reserved forest with not-so-good accessibility. The parking area is located about 1.5 kilometers from the beach. The road to the beach is not motorable unless you are in an off-road vehicle. This beach is usually frequented by locals. It is a great spot for watching sunsets.
