Where is Wandoor Beach Located?

The beach is located around 22 kilometers away from the Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair in the South Andaman District of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The beach comes under the Wandoor village.

How to Reach Wandoor Beach (or Wandoor Jetty)?

Note: Wandoor Beach and Wandoor Jetty are around 150 m apart, so the following guide applies to both Wandoor Beach and Wandoor Jetty.

You can reach by road if you are in Port Blair. 

  • You can board a public bus from Port Blair.
    • There are buses plying from Aberdeen Bazaar bus station and G.B. Pant Hospital. You can either board them from these two locations or any bus stop en route to Wandoor. Just find a bus stop on the main road (Great Andaman Trunk Road) and you’re bound to get a bus to Wandoor.
  • You can also rent a two-wheeler and drive yourself to Wandoor.
  • And if you have booked a tour package, your travel agent will provide you with a cab.

Things to do on Wandoor Beach:

North Wandoor Beach

If you have rented a two-wheeler or hired a cab then you can visit this beach. It is not as scenic as Wandoor Beach but has a lot of privacy to offer. There is no public transportation to North Wandoor so visit only if you have your own means of transport. Also, visit this place only if you have extra time to kill.

Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park

A national park in India, it protects marine life like corals, mangroves, and sea turtles prevalent around. It is open to tourists till 5 pm in the evening. It is free of cost.

The beach has dedicated changing rooms. These are well-maintained and can be accessed between 08:00 a.m. and 05:00 p.m.

The beach has trained lifeguards to avoid any accidents. There are also police officials present on this beach.

Yes! This beach is among the top beaches in Andaman. If you are at Port Blair, you must not miss Wandoor Beach. The sunsets here are eye pleasing. This place is definitely worth your time.

Caution!

Wandoor Beach is a no-swimming zone. Please do not enter the water, as it is inhabited by crocodiles. Crocodiles are a protected species within the Lohabarrack Crocodile Sanctuary of Wandoor.
